PDP #249: Crush-Loaded

According to Wikipedia, the capacity of a Canadian Light Rail Vehicle is one hundred and thirty-two standing. There must have been at least a hundred and fifty people aboard this 506 Carlton streetcar yesterday, presumably on their way to Little Italy to watch the World Cup. People continued to emerge from the streetcar for a while after I took this photo, until the load reached a point where the operator could safely move it. I've never seen a streetcar this crowded before - at least it wasn't a furnace day.

If this happens much more often, the TTC might have to look into hiring some streetcar stuffers. Or at least buy some more of those new LRVs.
