Photo: The Art of Missing the Ground

Pretty much everyone else in that part of Pier 39 was focusing their attention on the sea lions, but for the moment I was more interested in the seagull that had landed right nearby; I suppose that around Fisherman's Wharf, the birds have figured out that humans aren't that much of a threat. I stood there with my finger on the button, waiting for the bird to hurl itself off the edge.
