PDP #170: The Bugmobile

The Annex is a place where strange and unexpected things can happen. Therefore, it didn't surprise me much last October when, while waiting for the lights to change at Bloor and Bathurst, one of the cars backed up at the intersection was absolutely covered with insects. Plastic insects, mind you, but still insects. It was the sort of picture I could not possibly pass up.

I'd never seen it before, and I haven't seen it since. If not for this photographic evidence, I might not believe I'd seen it at all.

  1. I saw that today and I actually debated taking a photo of it just to ask if I'm the only one who sees it!

It usually lives on Dupont and the surrounding area, so I see it pretty much every time I go out anywhere. Usually though it's just parked on Dupont anywhere between Ossington and Dufferin.

No idea what the purpose of it is... today as I was walking by I figured some parent just wanted their kid to think it's cool to be driven to school or something.

  2. I used to see this van frequently near the galleria at dufferin & dupont.

(FYI, just some random Torontonian, I was looking for stuff on Scott Pilgrim and stumbled here. Thanks for looking up the locations :) Did you end up doing anything similar for filming locations on the movie?)

  3. Also, that settles it. Next time I see this van, I am going to camp outside and wait for its owner. [Is that creepy? It's creepy isn't it. :/]

  4. No, nothing for the movie - I only saw it on Saturday, and the only thing I can think of offhand that's not already in one of the books is the relocated Chaos Theatre; I'm not sure where it is in the movie, but it's definitely not Queen and Bathurst. I would have taken a photo of the house they used to film Scott and Wallace's apartment, but when I went there was a man sitting on the porch. Quietly intimidating.
