One could easily make the argument that bridges are civilization. Bridges were one of the first, and still remain among the most prominent, methods in which communities crossed natural barriers, allowing the potential of widespread trade and cultural contact which made our modern civilization possible.
The Humber Bay Arch Bridge, which spans the lower Humber River and connects Toronto and Etobicoke, isn't the most well-known bridge - it's pedestrian and bicycle only. But man, though, did they build the thing with style!
